Copying workouts is a big part of how most gyms enter their programming into Gym Mate for the week. Until now, copying meant taking everything from a class or stream and sending it somewhere else as one block, with limited control over what was included or how copies behaved when you edited them later.
This update gives you more control when copying workouts from Programming and Class Programming, with a clearer copy window and new options for choosing what to copy and how those copies stay linked.
What's new
When you click Copy workouts to... on a class or stream, you will now see two sections:
Components to copy
- Every workout component on that class or stream is listed with a checkbox.
- All components are selected by default.
- Uncheck anything you do not want to copy.
- Components appear in the same order as they do in programming.
Copy to
- Choose where the selected components should go, such as another class on the same day, all classes in a category, or another date.
You can also choose how copies behave after they are created.
Linked copies vs independent copies
By default, workouts are copied as linked copies. If you edit the original workout later, those changes flow through to every linked copy. This is still the best option when you want the same workout kept in sync across multiple classes or streams.
If you need a copy you can change on its own, tick Copy as new independent workouts before copying. Independent copies start from the same content, but can be edited separately without affecting the original or other copies.
Tip: Leave the checkbox unticked for templates you want to reuse and keep consistent. Tick it when you want to use a workout as a starting point and then customise it for a specific class.
When to use it
Copy one part of a workout
Your morning class has a warm-up, strength block, and finisher, but you only want the finisher on your evening classes. Open the copy window, uncheck the warm-up and strength block, and copy just the finisher.
Reuse a workout across the week
You have a great Tuesday workout and want the same session on Thursday without maintaining two separate versions. Copy it as a linked copy. Any update you make to the original will update Thursday as well.
Start from a template, then customise
You want Monday's workout on Wednesday, but with small changes for that class. Copy it as new independent workouts, then edit Wednesday's version without changing Monday.
Copy to multiple classes on the same day
From Class Programming, you can still copy to all classes in a category, all classes with the same name, or all classes on that date.
Where this applies
These improvements are available when copying from:
- Programming (stream programming)
- Class Programming (multi-day view)
- Class Programming (single-day view)
The bulk Copy Programming option in the Programming header works the same as before and continues to copy full programming as linked workouts.
How to copy workouts
- Open Programming or Class Programming.
- Find the class or stream that contains the workouts you want to copy.
- Click the Copy workouts to... icon.
- In Components to copy, leave all items ticked to copy everything, or untick items you do not need.
- Optionally tick Copy as new independent workouts if you want separate, editable copies.
- In Copy to, choose the destination class, category, or date.
- Confirm the copy.
If no components are selected, you will be asked to select at least one before copying.
Good to know
- Linked copy is the default. Independent copy is optional.
- Single movements were already copied at instance level and behave the same way.
- If you do not see the updated copy window straight away, refresh your browser after the update is deployed.
